India Premium – vaccination package including consultation with a travel medicine doctor
Comprehensive vaccinations for travellers planning a stay in India as well as a consultation with a travel medicine doctor for just PLN 1 (included in the price of the package).
The price includes all fees
The "India Premium – vaccination package including consultation with a travel medicine doctor" package includes, among others:
Off to India? Consider vaccinations – make sure that you are fully vaccinated against diseases that are common worldwide, such as tetanus, pertussis and measles. Additionally, depending on the risk of exposure, vaccinations against hepatitis A, typhoid fever, cholera, rabies and Japanese encephalitis are worth considering, which could be dangerous during your stay in India.
Ensure yourself a comprehensive protection with the India Premium vaccination package before travelling to India, especially if you plan:
- a long stay;
- stay in rural areas and/or during the rainy season;
- camping, cycling, hiking in places with limited access to medical care;
- to consume local food in places with poor sanitary conditions;
- activities involving potential contact with animals (e.g. volunteering, trekking, sleeping in tents) – children are specifically at risk of being bitten.
The package includes:
- a qualifying appointment with a travel medicine doctor for PLN 1 (included in the price of the package);
- another qualifying appointment with a doctor or nurse in case of vaccination against rabies and Japanese encephalitis (before administering the second dose of the vaccine).
- vaccinations against:
- Hepatitis A – a viral liver infection transmitted via the digestive tract. The risk increases in areas with limited access to clean food and water. Often referred to as the "dirty hands disease";
- typhoid fever – an acute infectious disease caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi; infection spreads through the digestive system by consuming contaminated food or water, as well as direct contact with an infected person;
- infectious diseases, such as tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis or tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis + polio, which cause serious complications – with the use of the combined vaccine; in Poland, vaccinating against these diseases is mandatory, but over time, immunity to some of them decreases and booster doses are then required – make sure you know when you were last vaccinated against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis;
- rabies (2 doses) – a fatal infectious disease caused by a virus that affects the central nervous system, resulting from a bite or contact of broken skin with the saliva of an infected animal; vaccination is definitely recommended for travellers planning a longer stay or contact with animals, especially since dogs infected with rabies are frequently encountered in India, and rabies has also been reported in some terrestrial wild animal species;
- cholera – an acute infectious disease of the digestive tract caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae; infection occurs through the consumption of contaminated water or food; it can lead to rapid dehydration and, in extreme cases, death; vaccination is recommended for travellers depending on the estimated risk of exposure;
- Japanese encephalitis (2 doses) – a dangerous viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes, which can cause encephalitis and lead to serious neurological consequences; vaccination is generally recommended for travellers planning a long stay and engaging in outdoor activities (e.g. hiking or camping, staying in places without air conditioning, screens or mosquito nets), as well as in rural areas.
During your appointment with a travel medicine doctor, you will receive personalised recommendations regarding vaccinations and health safety measures, taking into account your destination and planned activities, as well as advice on how to put together a travel first aid kit. The doctor will also prescribe anti-malarial medication and explain how to take it. Malaria is endemic in many regions of India, and there is a risk of infection throughout the entire year, especially during the monsoon season.
This package has been designed for travellers planning a trip to India, as well as other South Asian countries, such as Bangladesh and Nepal.
We recommend starting vaccinations 6-8 weeks before your trip.
In addition to vaccinations, it is important to remember about additional precautions, such as:
- use of repellents, protective clothing and mosquito nets (protection against dengue fever, Zika virus, chikungunya and malaria);
- maintaining good hygiene, drinking only boiled water or drinks from factory-sealed containers, brushing teeth with boiled or microbiologically treated water, washing and disinfecting hands thoroughly before each meal, keeping away from fruits with peel, salads, raw meat, etc.; avoiding eating street food at lower-category establishments; in case of stomach problems, consider seeing a doctor, as the medicines used in Europe may be ineffective due to the specific bacterial flora; avoiding drinks with ice of unknown origin;
- avoiding contact with animals due to the risk of rabies.
The vaccination will not be administered in cases, if the patients:
- have an acute infection with severe symptoms, fever above 38.5°C or exacerbation of chronic diseases;
- have experienced a severe allergic reaction after a previous vaccination;
- have confirmed hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the preparation;
- are still under the protective effect of a previous preparation with an identical or similar immunological profile and the doctor concludes that the second dose is not necessary.
In such cases, the doctor postpones vaccination until the symptoms subside or the health condition stabilises, or refuses vaccination qualification if there are absolute contraindications.
