Obstetric ultrasonography – pregnancy week: before 10

Before the 10th week of pregnancy, an ultrasound examination is performed if there is suspicion of pathologies in the development of pregnancy or its proper course.

The examination helps to assess the pregnancy term, visualise the cardiac activity and location of the foetus.

An ultrasound examination is an imaging method that uses ultrasound waves. This technology is based on ultrasound wave reflection from the structures of internal organs.

• The examination does not require any particular preparation.
• The examination takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
• The results are given to patients in the form of a medical description along with an ultrasound picture. The whole documentation is printed during an appointment and patients receive the original copy of their results. The description of the result is also available online.

There are no contraindications to this examination. Ultrasonography is safe for both the mother and the baby.
