Surgeons qualify patients for operative treatment in hospital, e.g. in the case of varices of the lower limbs, the gallbladder, or abdominal hernias.

Prior to surgical removal of skin lesions, such as warts, fibromas or skin marks, it is necessary to consult a dermatologist, who will assess all the medical indications for such removal.

During the consultation, a surgeon:

• takes the patient’s history and performs a physical examination;
• makes diagnoses;
• provides medical recommendations
• prescribes drugs
• issues referrals for tests and examinations,
• issues sick leaves.

During the appointment, a surgeon may perform a per rectum examination, remove sutures and apply a dressing.

A consultation lasts 20 minutes.
