The diagnosis of endometriosis is usually delayed by about 4 to 8 years. This is mainly due to the difficulty in diagnosing the condition. At Medicover, the disease is diagnosed using ultrasound for deep infiltrating endometriosis with the use of gel contrast (performed through a vaginal probe). The examination takes about 30 minutes and is painless. It is best carried out in the first phase of the cycle after the end of menstruation .

Obstetric Doppler ultrasound is used to assess the placental flows and the foetal organs. The examination assesses the blood supply in various foetal structures and analyses the flows in small vessels which are not visible on standard obstetric ultrasonography.
