Wrist Ultrasound
The structures of the wrist are relatively superficial, which allows for the acquisition of high-resolution images. Wrist ultrasonography enables the evaluation of long anatomical structures, such as nerves or tendons, along their entire length without the need to interrupt the examination. This is undoubtedly a significant advantage, as other imaging methods do not offer such continuous scanning capability.
Ultrasound allows for the assessment of carpal tunnel syndrome, diagnosis of overuse and inflammatory changes in the wrist extensor and flexor tendons. Ultrasonography also clearly visualizes ganglions, which often form around the wrist joints.
