How to prepare for the screening tests?
Blood tests – on the day before the test limit physical activity, follow a light diet and do not drink alcohol. You should be fasting on the day of the test, i.e. no food or drink should be consumed for 8 hours prior to blood collection. If you need to take medication or you are thirsty, you may drink a glass of still mineral water. A light meal is recommended up to 8 hours before the test.
Urine test – urine collected first thing in the morning is best for testing. Urine should be collected in a single-use container specially designed for this purpose (available at pharmacies) and delivered to the Medicover Centre Blood Drawing Station as soon as possible. For women, the test should not be performed during menstruation and in the first three days afterwards.
EKG test (electrocardiogram) – the test does not require any special preparation.
Chest X-ray – you should have a referral from your doctor for examination. The referral should include:
- name of entity issuing the referral,
- patient details (patient's name and surname, date of birth, sex, PESEL number, address and place of residence),
- if the patient is a minor, completely incapacitated or incapable of expressing consent – the name of the legal representative and the address of his/her place of residence is required,
- the purpose and justification of the test,
- initial clinical diagnosis of medical radiological procedure,
- signature and stamp of the person requesting the examination or procedure.
X-ray examinations are not recommended for pregnant women. Where necessary, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure maximum protection for the patient.
Internal medicine consultations – during the first visit, the doctor will take the patient’s medical history, conduct an examination during the visit and issue referrals for examinations. He/she will also ask questions about the current state of health, as well as about diseases in the immediate family. At the summarising visit, the doctor, based on the medical history, examination during the first visit and the results of additional tests, will assess the patient’s health condition and present recommendations for the future. At the end of the visit, the doctor will provide the patient with a specially prepared package, which will include the summary of the Health Screening along with recommendations and original test results.
Please prepare for the tests in accordance with the above recommendations, otherwise they may not be able to be performed or their results may be difficult to interpret. Any re-examinations may be performed at the patient's expense.
